Story: One State’s War On Forever Chemicals In Milk
Client: The New Republic
Art Director: Robert A. Di Ieso, Jr.
About: A piece about the challenges Maine is facing in keeping biosolids—aka sewage sludge—from being used as fertilizer on farms. The sewage has high levels of PFAS, thanks both to industrial sources and the high concentrations of forever chemicals present in everyday household waste. This has led to milk containing sky-high levels of PFAS and is putting local farmers out of business because they can't get the PFAS down to a safe level.
